GeoSpatial Plotting and Animation Tool (GeoSPlAT) |
|
|
|
Introduction
GeoSPlAT (GeoSpatial Plotting and Animation Tool) was developed to fill a requirement of both the BADC and the NERC
DataGrid.
GeoSPlAT has a sister package called
the Data Extractor
that provides a web-interface to data selection, sub-setting and conversion. This
combines effectively with GeoSPlAT to provide a data extraction suite.
What does the GeoSPlAT do?
Please see the
BADC Data Extractor web page for more
details.

Accessing GeoSPlAT
If you are a registered BADC user you may access our main GeoSPlAT interface at:
http://cdat.badc.nerc.ac.uk/cgi-bin/splatui.py
Alternatively, you can see an unrestricted version with some sample data at:
http://cdat.badc.nerc.ac.uk/cgi-bin/splatui_demo.py
Requirements
GeoSPlAT relies on the following software (no version testing has been done so far):
- A webserver (probably Apache).
- CDAT (Climate Data Analysis Tools) - available for
numerous platforms.
- Python - if not installed with CDAT.
Documentation
We are currently working on documentation for the GeoSPlAT. Please see the
BADC Data Extractor web page for more
details.
Download
Version 0.1 of the Data Extractor is currently being tested and will soon be made available via this web site.
Please let me know if you need it urgently.
Future plans
Please see the
BADC Data Extractor web page for more
details.
Acknowledgements
Thanks to the CDAT team for providing a tool that I could build upon to develop the GeoSPlAT. Thanks
to numerous colleagues at the BADC and NDG for you guidance.
Note that I am looking for collaborators to expand the functionality of the GeoSPlAT. Contact me
if you are interested.
